"So, what does a marketing consultant do?"

Like a lot of people this past weekend, I was able to spend time with family for Thanksgiving. It was great to be around loved ones and catch up on what's been going on in our lives in the past year. For me, I opened up Violet Clover Consulting (VCC) in June, so there was several supportive family members who were excited for me but did have a couple of questions.

What does a marketing consultant do?

As an experienced marketing professional - I worked in marketing at a couple Fortune 500 companies for 15 years before opening VCC - I can help small business owners:

  • Strategize integrated marketing plans that help them achieve their goals.

  • Create engaging marketing materials.

  • Analyze the results to better measure ROI.

  • Identify opportunities to connect with new and existing customers.

Sure, there are blogs and articles that provide helpful DIY marketing tips. But, like any home improvement project, there are times when you can DIY the project and others when you'll want to bring in the professionals.

Why would a business owner hire a marketing consultant?

Each business and their needs are unique, but there are few general reasons why a business owner would hire a marketing consultant:

  • Someone on their in-house marketing team is on leave, and they need someone to help short-term.

  • They've been marketing their business the same way for a while and want a fresh set of eyes to look at their strategy and make recommendations.

  • They're too busy to devote the time to marketing.

  • They have a new product or service that they want to rollout.

  • New competitors have emerged, and their sales have been impacted.

Not sure if you're ready to hire a marketing consultant, but are curious? Let's schedule a free consultation so we can get to know each other.

Where did the name, Violet Clover, come from?

I wanted this business to reflect my family - Violet is the name of my husband and my dog and the clover represents my Irish heritage.

How was your holiday weekend? What business-related questions did you get from friends and family?
